Faith at Resurrection Lutheran

Faith is what we are all about. It is a rich and complex subject. This page lists the faith-related resources that are available on our web site.

What we Believe

In a hurry to get a bead on us? Read this essay to get a brief overview.

Sermon Library

Want to hear a recent sermon, or review some of the older ones? We maintain a sermon library that sometimes includes notes, sermon studies, and a chance for you to ask questions! Click here to see it.

Adult Information Class

Some churches call it “Christianity 101,” and others might call it something else, but nearly every church offers a mini-survey of their beliefs for people interested in joining or for members' review. We do, too. We're a small church, so the "class" isn't always in session, but here is a summary of the material that we present in that class for your review. The survey normally takes seven sessions, usually held one day per week.

SessionMaterial Covered
How we know about God. Reading and interpreting the Bible.
What God requires of us. The Ten Commandments. The Old Testament.
The Good News of Jesus Christ. The nature and work of Jesus. Truth and lies about Jesus.
Grace and Works. Prayer. The Holy Spirit and the Christian life.
5?
Baptism. Origins. The Christian World View.
6?
The Lord's Supper. Faith in the long run. Eternal Life.
7?
History of the Church. Denominations. Worship.

I'm also working on "follow-up questions" for each week. You could use these as devotions to be done in between the weeks of material to reinforce and build on the material we cover together. They are designed to stimulate questions and reflection.

Resources for Prayer

For the year 2007, Pastor Ed selected "prayer" as an overarching theme. Here is a listing of some of the resources that came out of that theme:

  • How to Pray Like a Pro — This brief essay introduces the idea of leading prayer, especially in small groups and among a small amount of people. Intended to help us lead prayer with each other.

Uncategorized Resources

Here are some miscellaneous faith-related resources that you might find useful:

  • Caleb Bible Devotion — A quick devotion/Bible study that Pastor Ed did for the Jr. High Fellowship of Christian Athletes chapter at the request of his son, Andrew.
